Michael Josephson

Michael Josephson is an internationally renowned champion of character development and ethical conduct. After a distinguished 20-year career as a law professor and proprietor of a successful legal publishing company and bar exam preparation course, he resigned his tenured professorship and sold his business to launch the Joseph & Edna Josephson Institute of Ethics, a nonprofit charitable organization named in honor of his parents. In 1992, he founded CHARACTER COUNTS!, a program that is widely-credited with re-vitalizing and revolutionizing the character education movement. Based on a common language of shared ethical values (the Six Pillars of Character- trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship), CHARACTER COUNTS! reaches millions of young people and their families in the United States and across the world. Every year since 1993, the U.S. Senate has passed a bi-partisan joint resolution and the President has signed a proclamation declaring the third week in October National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week.
